Just like clockwork, when the evenings get darker and the temperature starts to drop, so too do the initial signs of Black Friday start to appear. Given that it is the year’s biggest sale and the best time to bag a bargain in the world of tech, retailers are always looking to best one another by tempting shoppers earlier than usual with eye-grabbing discounts.
For quite a few years now, retailers like Currys and Amazon have started their Black Friday sales way in advance of the actual date, and this time around we’ve already spotted a few Black Friday-style deals appearing before October has even come to an end. With that in mind, you’ll want to stick with us as we wade through it all.

What happened last year?
One of last year’s biggest offers was Amazon’s Meta Quest 2 deal which let you nab the VR headset with a free £50 gift card for just £249.99. For those who had yet to hop on the VR bandwagon, this was a brilliantly cost effective way of doing so, and we have seen anything quite like it since.
The five-star Sony WH-1000XM5 finally got the price cut we were all hoping for, dropping to just £279.99 across several retailers. Even though their predecessors, the XM4, were still a great buy, being able to nab Sony’s latest and greatest on the cheap was too good an offer to pass up.
Products to watch
One of the things that we’ve yet to see is a major deal on the outstanding Bowers and Wilkins Px7 S2e, something to match the type of discount that we usually see for Sony’s WH headphones around Black Friday. Given their outstanding audio quality, eye-catching style and great ANC, these award winning headphones are well worth checking out.
If your phone contract expires in November and you need a solid upgrade to replace it then you should definitely keep tabs on either the Honor Magic 6 Pro, if you’re after a high-end device, or the Pixel 8a if you need something with tons of features that doesn’t break the bank.
What do we expect from Black Friday 2024?
Given that the long-awaited successor to the Nintendo Switch is set to drop sometime in 2025, Black Friday feels like the perfect opportunity for retailers to offload any excess stock they might have of Nintendo’s current console. This could lead to some pretty tasty bundles for the regular Switch, Switch OLED and the Switch Lite.
Since the release of the Meta Quest 3S, the standard Meta Quest 3 feels as if it’s due a price cut of some significance given that its £479.99 starting price hardly makes it the most affordable VR headset on the market (even if it is the best).

Even though it hasn’t advertised its ongoing offers as such, Amazon’s main deals page has some discounts that feel as if they are worthy of the Black Friday sale, and the same can be said for the tons of offers currently running at Very.
