Xbox Series S is the only console worth buying this Black Friday and Cyber Monday

There’s been a good handful of gaming console deals this Black Friday weekend but for my money, the only one truly worth nabbing is the Xbox Series S.

Before all of the console warriors out there pounce, let it be known that I am the proud owner of a PS5, Nintendo Switch OLED and yes, an Xbox Series S, so I’m about as far away from being a ‘fan-boy’ as one can be, but for the sheer value proposition that the Series S poses this Black Friday, to me it’s the clear winner of the sale.

For context, you can now nab the Xbox Series S for just £199.99 which, aside from being a hefty 20% discount on its original RRP, easily makes it the cheapest next-gen console you can buy right now, being a fraction of the price compared to the Xbox Series X and the PS5.

Yet, in spite of its budget price tag, the Series S still gives you full access to must-play modern titles like Alan Wake II, Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and more. As a digital-only console the Series S lacks a disc drive but to its advantage, the console is a great deal smaller than most of its competitors. Speaking from experience, it looks absolutely miniscule sitting next to my PS5.

Where the Series S really comes into its own however is when you pair it with a Game Pass subscription. Microsoft’s gaming subscription service also presents fantastic value for money but alongside the reduced price of the Series S, it’s even more of a bargain.

On top of the hundreds of games currently available, Game Pass recently welcomed Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 into the fold which, with the Series S in tow, provides countless hours of multiplayer action, and that’s before mentioning the must-play campaign filled with espionage.

When you’re not gaming, the Series S also works brilliantly as an entertainment device. You can run all the major streaming apps from Netflix to Disney Plus, Prime Video and iPlayer, plus you can purchase films and TV shows from the built-in store to watch whenever you please.

As an ‘everything’ device that can do a spot of gaming, entertainment and more, the Xbox Series S is a downright bargain at £199.99, one that I cannot recommend enough.
